This is not an adoption application! If you would like to adopt a cat, please fill out our "Adoption Application".

  • If you have family members that are on board with fostering, please do fill out this form.

  • If you like to interact with different types of people and are fine with the idea of adopters coming to your home or meeting with them to counsel them about the kitty in your care, please do fill out this form.

  • If you have a flexible personality, are willing to listen, learn and follow suggestions, please do fill out this form.

  • If you are willing to drive, network and be strongly committed to an organization that places great cats into forever homes, please do fill out an application.

If you just want to foster one and then adopt it, please consider adoption first. We need foster parents able to agree for possible long-term arrangements.

We have LOTS of cats available to adopt right now!

What Does it Take to Foster a Pet?

A love of animals!

What is a foster home?

Loving foster homes are the backbone of any rescue organization. They are families just like yours that provide a safe, temporary home for rescued pets to rest, recuperate, and prepare to meet their forever families. The animals in foster care benefit greatly from love, attention, and living in a home environment; for some rescued pets, it may be a first. When foster homes are not available, rescued pets state in boarding kennels or veterinary clinics.

How long is a cat in foster care?

Animals can be in foster care anywhere from a few days to a few months, with the average stay being about 2-3 weeks. If you have a vacation or business trip planned, don't worry about your foster pet...we'll find him another place to stay while you're away.

What does a foster home provide?

As a Furget Me Not Purebred Cat Rescue foster home, you provide the comfy place to sleep and all the love you can spare. Our rescue provides a starter kit of food and litter for new foster parents, after which our foster parents usually provide food and litter. Furget Me Not usually provides vet services and vaccinations. If emergency vet services are needed, foster parents must notify Furget Me Not for pre-authorization and those services to be covered.

We ask the foster family to treat the foster pet like any other member of the family. Get to know their personality. Any insight you can offer is helpful to Furget Me Not's placement decision. Together, you and our rescue's representative decide what kind of home will be best for your foster pet. By facilitating potential adopter meetings, you'll have the opportunity to meet your foster pet's new family and ensure it's a good match.

What if I want to adopt my foster cat?

We understand that "foster failures" occur. If you and your foster's representative decide the foster is a good match for your family, you are eligible to adopt the pet. The standard adoption procedure is followed, including the adoption contract and donation. We hope you'll continue to foster!
